His Eminence Metropolitan Sotirios was born in Arta in 1929. In 1947 he entered the Theological School of Athens University and graduated in 1951. From 1953 till 1954 he served the Religious Service in the Army. On 26th June 1956 he was ordained as a monk in the Lemen Monastery and on 29th June the late Metropolitan of Mythimni Constantine ordained him Deacon and he was appointed preacher of the Holy Metropolis of Mythimni. On 12th June 1960 he was ordained Reverend. In 1968 he was appointed Protosigelos (Secretary to the Archbishop) of Athens' Holy Archdiocese and at the same time he was the Head Vicar of the Athens Cathed
